Chaplain Anthony Jenkins will lead a service exploring the concept of intelligence — how we define it, who we define as intelligent (or not), why we define ‘smart’ the way we do, and what that says about humanity’s highest values.

In a joint service with Rev. Angela Wells and our Christ United Methodist Church siblings, we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride and the holy ground we cultivate together at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center.

In the final service of the series about proposed revisions to the UUA’s Article II, Rev. Paige Getty considers our commitment to Justice: “We work to be diverse multicultural Beloved Communities where all thrive. We covenant to dismantle racism and all forms of systemic oppression. We support the use of inclusive democratic processes to make decisions.”

UUCC Women’s Retreat participants, who recently shared time together at Camp Wabanna in Edgewater, MD, share some of their experiences and reflections from the weekend together near the water. We will also share in the annual ritual of flower ceremony, so bring flowers to share!

We will celebrate UUCC’s 60th anniversary with a musical worship service! It will be a collaborative musical celebration, with choir anthems, a special selection by our youngest singers, and rousing hymns, hymn-anthems, and responses. And we will hear reflections from congregants — one who has joined in each decade of the congregation’s life — who will share a special memory of a time when they and the community were thriving (where we are rooted), as well as name something they’re excited about as they imagine UUCC’s future (that toward which we are reaching).

In articulating a commitment to equity, the proposed revision of UUA Article II states, “We declare that every person has the right to flourish,” and we will “use our time, wisdom, attention, and money,” in service of that right. What does Love compel the person of faith to sacrifice in service of equity?

On this Sunday when we observe Transgender Day of Visibility, and when many Christians celebrate Resurrection Sunday, we consider our UU commitment to transformation, another of the values expressed in the new draft of Article II. Rev. Paige Getty explores what it means to “collectively transform and grow spiritually and ethically” within a tradition that is “never complete and never perfect”.

The proposed revision of UUA Article II states, “We honor the interdependent web of all existence,” verbiage drawn directly from the current statement of principles. Rev. Paige Getty considers what it means to religiously nurture relationships characterized by care, respect, humility and reverence, with a commitment to reparation of harm.
