On this first Sunday following Election Day, we will share in a service of healing and hope, whatever the elections’ outcomes and unknowns.

We gather to ground and strengthen ourselves as we anticipate Election Day and the days that will follow.

As is our annual tradition, we will honor the loved ones we have lost.

You will be invited to share the name of a loved one—family member, partner, friend, beloved pet—who has died. Some of you may wish to speak a name aloud during the service. In addition, we will create a slide show of images that are submitted ahead of time.

With personal stories and special music, we will honor this year’s 30th anniversary of the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act. We will celebrate the progress made and consider the work that still needs to be addressed if we are to achieve full civil rights for all.

Valerie Hsu and Rev. Paige Getty lead us in a service honoring the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, expanding the right to vote to many – though not all – American women.

With resources from the national UU the Vote organizers, as well as personal reflections from our UUCC the Vote team, we will inspire and challenge ourselves to act on our principles, not only in completing our own ballots, but also in the work leading up to November 3.

As the Jewish high holy days near their end, we will honor their wisdom with a service of confession, repentance, and renewal.

Inspired by the writings of Michelle Obama, Glennon Doyle, and other poets and writers, the Rev. Paige Getty and Colette Gelwicks will explore the unique and rewarding challenges of raising daughters to be strong, independent, self-loving adults.

On the Sunday when we customarily observe ingathering—the coming-together-again of our spiritual community—we will virtually celebrate our traditional water communion ceremony, as we share images and stories of water as a source of life and nourishment.
