Rev. Paige Getty and the UUCC the Vote Team explore the importance of elections – and specifically how important will be the United States’ 2020 general elections when it comes to advancing justice in our community and in the world.

On this Sunday when we anticipate our congregation’s Annual Meeting in the evening at 6:30 pm, Rev. Paige Getty and others celebrate the democracy that is UUCC – where every voice and every vote has its place, and where, as 19th century Unitarian minister Theodore Parker said, “Democracy means not ‘I am as good as you are,’ but ‘You are as good as I am.’”

We honored Memorial Day 2020 with personal reflections from several of UUCC’s current or former military service members.

Rev. Paige Getty led a service about the proposed 8th Principle of Unitarian Universalism, offering some historical context and laying groundwork for UUCC’s June 7th annual meeting, during which the Membership will vote on whether to endorse the 8th UU Principle as a congregation.

Continuing the theme of thresholds, in this service we imagined what lies beyond the current liminal space in which we’re living. We engaged with these questions: What is our vision for the future? How does this liminal time inform that vision? What do we want to be different?

Whose Beauty is Past Change — This service celebrated the earth in honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. (Titled inspired by the poem “Pied Beauty” by Gerard Manley Hopkins.)
