Join us for a special Unitarian Universalist Diwali holiday service, where we will celebrate the annual Festival of Lights. Diwali (also known as Deepavali, meaning “row of lights”) represents the triumph of light over darkness and the unity of diverse traditions. The musical ensemble TVAMEVA will be our guests, and will explore universal themes of hope, love and inner light through shared stories and music.

In our annual tradition, we honor the memories of loved ones who have died with poetry, special music, candle-lighting and the speaking of names. As is our tradition, we will light candles in memory of loved ones who have died. You are invited to bring photos or small memorial objects to place on the altar table.

“UUCC embodies love in action,” declares the congregation’s new mission statement. In Our Whole Lives, we teach our students of all ages that their bodies are sacred and worthy. As a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association, we promise we will “cherish Earth and all beings by creating and nurturing relationships of care and respect.” In this service, Rev. Paige Getty and others invite us to explore what it means to be embodied, and to embody love as an act of faith.

Please join us as we celebrate the beginning of a new congregational year with our annual ingathering worship service for all ages, complete with a water ceremony. Bring a small amount of water from a sacred source, your summer travels, or your kitchen sink for the water ceremony. The service is for all ages so there will be no separate programming for children.
