Sensing Delight

Join UUCC members Kim Metz and Colette Gelwicks and staff members Kelli Danaker and Valerie Hsu this Sunday to explore and experience delight through our five senses in an interactive multigenerational service. Use your senses to tap into play, surprise, and presence through music, meditation, and other elements of the service. We’ll taste, touch, hear, see, and smell through making music, eating bubbles, embodying our delight, and more, as we remember what delights us, and leave with a stronger capacity to welcome delight into our lives.

Wear Orange - A Service for Gun Violence Awareness | Cindi Alvey, Dr. Katrina Fowlkes

Join us for a service dedicated to reflection and awareness about gun violence in our local community and beyond. The program will include voices from gun violence survivors in Howard County and their loved ones. This service is facilitated by Howard County Moms Demand Action as part of National Gun Violence Awareness / Wear Orange Weekend. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange to show support for gun violence survivors. To be followed by a coffee hour and facilitated labyrinth walk.

Our Living Tradition | Colette Gelwicks & Valerie Hsu

In this service, Colette Gelwicks & Valerie Hsu invite us to consider the Unitarian Universalist values of transformation, growth, and change, especially as it relates to our collective identity as a congregation. Together, we will reflect on evolution as a spiritual practice, in light of the upcoming UUCC Annual Meeting and the UUA General Assembly.

Love In Action | Robin Slaw

UUCC’s newly proposed mission statement expresses that embodied in love in action, we at UUCC nurture spirits, build community, and act for justice. Join Robin Slaw, Director of Religious Education, for a look at how these concepts can be embodied in our lives as she shares her experience of volunteering as a court-appointed special advocate at Voices for Children.

Building Bridges, Not Barriers: The Covenant of Right Relations | Robin Hessey & Charles Scott

Successfully dealing with conflict is not easy, but the rewards can be tremendous. How do we do this in a safe way where we truly consider the impacts of our words and actions, listen to each other, mutually forgive—both ourselves and others—and try again? The Covenant of Right Relations is a set of promises to guide us on our journey of learning about ourselves and others to build bridges, not barriers to communication and beloved community.

An American Choral Songbook | Michael Adcock

Join the UUCC Chalice Choir for an annual spring Music Service that celebrates and traverses the last 150 years of great American choral literature. The choir will present both serious and playful works from a variety of wonderful choral traditions.

The Stories We Tell...Or Not | Ned Tillman

Ned Tillman will delve into thoughts on who we are and the stories we tell ourselves and others. What do these stories reveal about us? Is there a core reality that describes ourselves that doesn’t change? How do you know when to add on or take away some of the layers that we have accumulated over the years and drill down to our most human essence?
